Always pack

  • Slip-on shoes — you'll remove them often
  • Socks without holes (really)
  • A small towel or handkerchief — many toilets have no paper towels
  • A coin purse
  • A plastic bag for your rubbish
  • Plug adapter: Japan uses Type A two-pin plugs, 100V
  • Any prescription medicine with its prescription
